Over the past two years in the office we have dilligently continued to social distance, sanitize between sessions and get tested regularly. However, due to the increase in positive cases in our area we will be going back to masks full-time during sessions for the time being.

UPDATE: Emily will begin wearing a mask with all in-office clients. Healing Towards Wellness continued to follow guidance by the CDC and will encourage all clients to wear masks starting August 1, 2021. Clients have choice and autonomy around this decision but it is highly encouraged due to the space of the office and school year starting.

UPDATE: Healing Towards Wellness will reopen on a client need basis.

Hello from Healing Towards Wellness,

As a mental health professional I am legally protected to see clients in my office and go to my office under the 30 day stay at home mandate put in place for Kansas City. This is what that means for mental health professionals.

I CAN go to my office, do my work and even meet with clients. However, I will not. I have the capability of meeting with my clients virtually. Unless it is an emergency situation, meeting virtually is what needs to happen for at least the next 30 days.

I CAN continue to promote my business and do all of the networking I had planned. I will continue to do this but it will be different. Right now families and individuals have to choose between basic needs such as food and electricity,if they have to choose between those and paying for therapy, I know what they will choose. I will continue to be there for my clients and the community in a way that is fair in price and understanding of our current economic situation.

This is probably my most important point; I have an ethical obligation to promote and model responsibility for my clients and the community with how I choose to handle the current mandate. By listening to those who take care of our city, standing in solidarity with my community, that is more important than my own want of seeing clients in person or wanting to be in my office.

To say I am frustrated would be an understatement. HTW is barely out of its first six months of operating as a small local KC business and much of this time has been promoting, growing my caseload and networking with my Kansas City community.

Right now, my focus needs to be my current clients and listening to our city leaders.
